The sophisticated talent and creative instinct of Filipino animators make the Philippines the preferred outsourcing partner of big international production outfits worldwide. Aside from lower costs of services, big companies rely on us due to our English proficiency, consistent quality and speed in delivering output, and ability to comprehend concepts and story lines better than our Asian counterparts.

The Philippines has been providing animation services to the world for over 30 years now. Filipino animators were behind some of the world’s best-loved cartoons and animated films –Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry, Addams Family, The Mask, The Jetsons, Dragon Ball Z, Captain Planet, Finding Nemo and The Incredible – all under entertainment giants such as Walt Disney, Warner Brothers, Cartoon Network, HBO, Marvel Comics, Hanna Barbera and producers of Japanese anime.

Aside from this, Filipino animators are also able to render graphics in different platforms for the gaming industry (Nintendo, Sega, Game Gear, Game Boy and Sony PlayStation). At present, there are several small and medium animation studios in the country providing jobs to thousands of animation professionals directly and indirectly involved in animation. Industry players are service providers, local sub-contractors and non-commercial producers. Through the years, the industry generates millions of dollars in revenues and continues to grow every year.

The promotion of the country’s animation industry is supported by the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI), an association of animation companies, animation schools and learning centers and technology providers.  ACPI’s mission is to promote and market the Philippine animation industry here and abroad. Aside from conducting workshops to Filipino animators, ACPI has partnered with educational institutions like the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in developing the curriculum, training regulations, in coming upwith the assessment tools for schools and other institutions that want to offer animation courses. The industry hopes to graduate fresh, industry-ready animator’s to handle the global business demand.
